Flatbeds: Transportation for cargo that may not require or have the ability to be enclosed in a dry van trailer. Cant be loaded or unloaded from a dock or is too wide, long, or tall for a standard trailer. These trailers are often used for lumber, steel, cranes, roofing materials, pipes, insulations, etc.
Step Decks: Designed for the transportation of tall freight. The maximum height for a step deck trailer is 10’2″ on the lower section of the trailer. These trailers are mainly used for vehicles, farm equipment, and construction equipment.
Conestoga: Same as a flatbed trailer of 48ft or 53ft long, with the ability to enclose the material being hauled. The usage of this trailer is similar to the standard flatbed but helps with protecting the load if a trap is needed but can’t be used. Examples of this cargo are generators, airport carts, steel beams, etc.
HotShots: These trailers are pulled by standard pickup trucks to move smaller shipments that may not need a full-size semi-truck. These trailers vary from 15ft – 40ft long and can carry up to 18,000 lbs depending on the trailers. Hotshots can carry a variety of materials from vehicles, lumber, and steel, to small farm equipment.
Double Drop / RGNs: These trailers are considered specialized equipment and are mainly used to haul large machinery. For this type of equipment, drivers will often need oversized permits before transporting equipment if it exceeds any weight, width, length, or height standard limit.
